Metro Penang xPress

Introduction

Penang, founded on the 11th August 1786 by Captain Francis Light as a port, has since come a long way to evolve into a charming city it is today. Arguably the currently second city in Malaysia in terms of population and economic importance, George Town's metro area covers the whole Penang Island and the mainland towns of Butterworth, Bukit Mertajam, Batu Kawan, and some even consider it to extend across the state's borders to include Kulim and Sungai Petani in Kedah, with an estimated population of 2 million people.

Besides being a bustling city, George Town boasts as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in its inner city, a Multimedia Super Corridor status free industrial zone in Bayan Lepas, a popular tourist destination, a food heaven, almost anything under the sun!

In this page, I'll be presenting some exciting city happenings and developments around Penang.
